Group counseling is one of the principal means in the helping profession. This course aims, through theory and practical experience to help students understand the basic concept and knowledge of group counseling . This course will analysis life experiences from social psychological perspective, and attempt to understand to what extent others and environment affect our thought, feeling and behavior. The main purpose of this course is to introduce the knowledge of social psychology and to improve the social psychological perspective of thinking. The topics in this semester are social cognition, social self, attitudes, altruism, emotion, group dynamics, helping, aggression etc. The students should collect some social events and try to analysis them with social psychological perspectives. It is hoped that the students be able to apply the knowledge to examine the way they interact with other persons in everyday.

This course introduces the aims and approaches of social science concepts and applications. Emphasis in how to design and evaluate research in social science. Introduce: conceptualization and verification, research design, sampling and measurement, data collection, data analysis, presentation and use of social research. Also focus on experimental research, correlational research, causal-comparative research, content analysis research, qualitative research and historical research…etc. A final research proposal is required.

Sandtray Therapy is a type of counseling technique which apply various miniatures and a tray with blue interior assisting clients to express themselves nonverbally.
This course includes four components:
1. Introduction of the history development of sandtray therapy and the various theories of sandtray therapy.
2. Introduction of the basic concepts of sandtray therapy and applications.
3. Actual experiences of sandtray sessions and how to conduct a sandtray session
4. Introduction of the categorization of miniatures and their symbolic meanings. Creation of miniatures is included.
